What if your next movie night happened right at home?
At Liva, we design and install bespoke home cinemas in Brussels, Antwerp and elsewhere in Belgium.
From a home cinema integrated into your living room to a fully dedicated cinema room, every project is designed to bring together image quality, immersive sound and seamless equipment integration.
Projection, screen, surround sound, acoustics, lighting and comfort are all considered together to create a coherent cinema experience tailored to your space.
A Home Cinema tailored to your home
A home cinema is about far more than just choosing a projector. The layout of the room, viewing distance, acoustics, lighting and equipment integration all directly shape the experience.

Home Cinema integrated into a living room
In a living space, the goal is to combine a true cinema experience with everyday use of the room. A motorised screen can retract out of sight when not in use, a projector can be discreetly built in, and speakers can be recessed or integrated into the furniture. Cabling and equipment are planned from the design stage onward to preserve the aesthetic of your interior.

Dedicated cinema room
In a room set aside entirely for the purpose, the whole space can be designed around the cinema experience. Equipment placement, screen size, audio system, acoustics, lighting, furniture and comfort are all considered together to create a cinema room that's consistent with the room's characteristics and how you'll use it.
From design to calibration of your home theatre
- Project consultation: We discuss your ideas, your room and how you’ll use it, to define the needs of your home cinema project.
- System design: We define the home theatre setup, choose the equipment and plan how it will be integrated into the room.
- Installation: Our team handles the installation of equipment, cabling and integration, including into furniture where the project calls for it.
- Calibration and commissioning: We fine-tune the image and sound, then walk you through how to use your system.
Designing a complete cinema system
Image quality depends just as much on the room, the screen and the viewing conditions as it does on the projector itself.
We select the right projection solution based on your project’s setup: available distance, desired image size, ambient light, throw distance and the level of performance you’re after.
A home cinema installation can also be part of a broader custom audiovisual installation tailored to your living space, where image, sound, control and their integration into your home are all considered as one system.

Choosing the right projector
Depending on the available space, we can consider an ultra-short throw (UST) projector, installed close to the screen, or a standard-throw solution when the room's layout allows for it. We offer 4K projection solutions, with Leica as our main partner, alongside other brands depending on the project's needs.

Choosing the right screen
The screen is just as important when creating your own cinema at home. Fixed screen, motorised screen or a specific projection surface: the right solution depends on the projector, the room's ambient light, the desired image size and the level of integration you're after.
Designing surround sound
Sound is what turns a home cinema installation into a truly immersive experience.
We design surround and Dolby Atmos configurations based on the dimensions and characteristics of the room. The placement of front, surround and ceiling speakers is carefully planned to create a coherent, immersive soundstage.
The room’s acoustics are also taken into account to minimise unwanted reflections and achieve a balanced sound.

Lighting automation & control
The room’s environment plays a full part in the cinema experience.
Lighting can be tailored to different moments with custom scenes: a welcome setting, movie mode, or lighting for after the film. Motorised curtains, a projection screen or other equipment can also be brought into the system’s control.
The goal is to start a movie night with a single tap, from an interface that fits how you live.
Equipment integrated into furniture
Furniture is an integral part of home theatre design. It can be built to house the equipment, integrate the speakers, and conceal technical elements, all while staying consistent with the room’s overall design.
Bookcase, TV unit, dedicated media cabinet or fully built-in elements: each solution is tailored to the project’s setup and the constraints of your space.

FAQ
What budget should I plan for a dedicated home cinema installation?
The budget for a home cinema depends primarily on your expectations, the room and the level of immersion you're after.
A system can range from an elegant setup integrated into a living room to a fully dedicated cinema room, complete with projection, a large-format screen, an immersive audio system, acoustic treatment, lighting and automation.
At Liva, we don't start from a theoretical budget or a product list: we first talk through your project so we can offer a coherent solution that fits both what you're looking for and your budget.
How long does it take to install a home cinema?
That depends on the complexity of the project.
Installing a home cinema system in an existing room can typically be done within a few days. A dedicated room requiring acoustic study, cabling, custom joinery or other specific work will naturally take longer.
Liva handles every step, from the technical study to the final calibration, and can coordinate with architects, interior designers and other trades involved in the project.
What's the ideal room size for a home cinema?
There's no such thing as an ideal size. A great home cinema system can be designed just as well in a living room as in a large dedicated room.
The size and proportions of the room, viewing distance and acoustics all help determine screen size, the number and placement of speakers, and the most suitable equipment.
Our role is precisely to design the system around the room, rather than trying to fit the room to a predefined system.
Can I keep my existing equipment?
Yes, when it makes technical sense to do so.
If you already own quality speakers, an amplifier, a projector, a TV or other equipment, Liva can look into integrating it into your new system.
We check its compatibility and performance to determine what's worth keeping, upgrading, or replacing where needed. The goal isn't to systematically replace existing equipment, but to build the most coherent installation possible.
What's the difference between a UST and a standard projector?
A UST (Ultra Short Throw) projector sits just a few centimetres from the wall or screen. It delivers a very large image without needing to mount a projector on the ceiling or at the back of the room.
A standard-throw projector is positioned further away from the screen. This setup is particularly well suited to dedicated home theater rooms and opens the door to solutions offering the very highest level of performance.
Neither technology is systematically better than the other: the right choice depends on the room, its architecture, how it will be used, and the level of performance you're after. Liva looks at all these factors to recommend the most suitable solution.
Do I need to darken the room to fully enjoy a home cinema?
Not necessarily. A dark room remains the ideal setting for the best contrast and to get the most out of a projector's performance. That said, today's technology also makes it possible to design excellent systems in everyday living spaces.
The choice of projector, its brightness, and above all the projection screen, becomes essential in that case. Certain technical screens are specifically designed to better handle ambient light and maintain image quality during the day.
Liva therefore adapts the solution to your room's real-world conditions, rather than requiring a fully darkened environment.
Can I watch TV and use streaming services on a home cinema system?
Absolutely. A modern home cinema installation can become the true media hub of your home.
TV, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, YouTube, live sport, 4K Blu-ray, gaming consoles or music can all be brought together within the same system.
Everything can be controlled simply, from a remote, a smartphone, a tablet, or as part of a smart home system. The goal is a genuinely spectacular cinema experience, without making everyday use complicated.
