Bespoke Home Automation & Smart Home

A smart home is about more than simply controlling a few devices from an app. A home automation system allows you to centralise your home’s equipment, automate certain functions and create scenarios tailored to your daily life.

At Liva, we design bespoke home automation and smart home solutions in Brussels, Antwerp and throughout Belgium, taking into account your interior, your lifestyle and the equipment you want to integrate.

Lighting, motorised blinds, audio, video and other home functions can be coordinated within a single system.

Control your home through a centralised home automation system

A smart home allows different systems and devices in your home to communicate with each other and be controlled through a single system.

Lighting control and ambience

Lighting can be controlled room by room or integrated into customised scenes. Brightness, switching on and off can be automated according to the time of day, occupancy or the desired ambience.

Motorised blinds and curtains

Motorised blinds and curtains can be controlled individually or combined with other home systems. For example, a cinema scene can automatically close the blinds before starting a projection, while a morning scene can gradually open them.

Control your multiroom audio system

Integrated into your home automation system, your multiroom audio system can be controlled from a single interface. Music playback can be integrated into different everyday scenes, for example to accompany your morning routine, your arrival home or your moments of relaxation.

Home cinema control

With home automation, you can centralise control of your home cinema and automate the different steps of a viewing experience. At the touch of a button, start your system, lower the blinds, adjust the lighting and switch on your equipment.

Creating scenes tailored to your daily life

It is the coordination between different home systems and devices that brings a smart home to life. Scenes allow multiple actions to be triggered with a single command, or automatically based on the time of day, your presence or specific conditions.

  • “Away” scene: the lights switch off, the blinds close and selected devices go into standby mode.
  • “Arrival” scene: the outdoor lighting switches on, the blinds open and the temperature is adjusted before you arrive.
  • “Cinema” scene: the blinds close, the lighting dims and the audio and video equipment switches on.
  • “Evening” scene: the lights are set to a predefined intensity, the blinds close and music plays in the rooms of your choice.
  • “Night” scene: the main lights switch off, selected lights remain on at a low intensity and unused devices go into standby mode.

These smart home scenes are configured around your living space and daily habits. They can also be triggered automatically based on a schedule, outdoor light levels or occupancy in specific rooms.

Simple and centralised control

Control your home’s different systems and devices from a single interface. Depending on your installation, lighting, blinds, heating, audio and video can be controlled from a tablet, smartphone, wall-mounted screen or dedicated remote control.

The controls are tailored to your custom audiovisual installation and intuitively organised, giving you easy access to the different functions of your home without having to switch between multiple interfaces.

FAQ

What is a home automation system?

A home automation system allows you to centralise, automate and simplify the control of different home systems and devices.
Lighting, blinds, heating, air conditioning, audiovisual equipment, security and access control can all communicate within a single environment.
At Liva, home automation is not about making your home more complex. On the contrary, we design intuitive solutions that allow technology to fade into the background and adapt naturally to your daily life.

What can you control with a home automation system?

A home automation system can control a wide range of home equipment and systems: lighting, motorised blinds and curtains, heating, air conditioning, music, TV, home cinema, projection systems, security, cameras, access control and many other compatible devices.
Everything can be controlled from wall-mounted controls, a remote control, smartphone, tablet or even by voice command.
The goal is to bring different systems together into a simple and coherent experience, rather than having to manage multiple apps and interfaces.

What budget should you plan for a home automation system?

The budget for a home automation system depends on the size of the project, the number of systems and devices to be integrated and the level of automation required. A solution designed to centralise lighting, blinds and a few essential functions does not require the same investment as a fully connected smart home.
We define the configuration based on your interior, your lifestyle and your priorities, then prepare a proposal tailored to your project.

Can you create automatic scenes based on your habits?

Yes. This is one of the main benefits of a well-designed home automation system.
A scene can combine several actions into a single command. For example, a “Cinema” scene can close the curtains, dim the lights, switch on the audiovisual system and automatically activate the necessary equipment.
You can also create scenes for waking up, leaving home, returning in the evening, having dinner, entertaining or going on holiday.
Some automations can also be triggered based on the time of day, light levels, occupancy or other conditions defined with the client.

What happens if the internet connection is lost?

A properly designed home automation system should not make your home unusable in the event of an internet outage.
Depending on the solution selected, essential functions can continue to operate locally within the home, including lighting, blinds and certain controls and automations.
Some features that rely on online services, remote access or voice assistants may, however, be temporarily unavailable.
This is why Liva places particular importance on network design and the selection of reliable solutions, limiting reliance on an internet connection wherever possible.

What are the benefits of a smart home?

A smart home allows you to centralise your home systems and devices, automate certain repetitive tasks and create scenes adapted to different moments of the day.
It can also contribute to better energy management by controlling heating, air conditioning, lighting and solar shading.
A well-designed system can also enhance security, make remote control easier and, above all, evolve with the needs of its occupants.
For Liva, a truly intelligent home is not one with the most technology, but one where technology becomes simple, discreet and genuinely useful.

What are the main home automation ecosystems?

There are now several major ecosystems and standards for creating a smart home.
Consumer platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa allow you to connect a wide range of smart devices and control them easily from a smartphone, tablet or through voice commands.
Standards such as Matter and Thread are also making it easier for devices from different manufacturers to communicate and work together.
There is no single ecosystem that is ideal for every project.
Liva selects the right technologies based on the architecture of the property, the systems and devices to be integrated, the client’s habits and the desired level of customisation, with particular attention to the reliability and scalability of the installation.
